Worker Killed in Accident at New Orleans Port

Investigations are ongoing after an accident that occurred along the exterior of a cruise ship killed a man on Sunday, October 20. The cruise ship employee was said to have been working on maintenance for the ship, and was on a lift machine. According to the statement issued by Carnival Cruise Lines, the worker sustained severe injuries after being caught between the lift and a lifeboat platform; he later died of his injuries. His identity was not released.

As no cause was given for this tragic accident, it is unknown if this accident was easily preventable. Too often that is the case. Many injurious or even fatal accidents might never have happened had it not been for equipment malfunctioning, supervisors failing to inspect machinery, co-workers breaching rules of safety, or a company failing to provide a safe workplace. No matter who is at fault, if a workplace accident was due to someone else's negligence, then the innocent victims should not be the ones left to pick up the medical bills and to forego wages for missed days of work.

If you or a loved one have suffered from a workplace accident, you may be entitled to recovering damages that may help relieve the financial stresses that you face. If you have lost someone to an accident, then you may be able to recover compensation that can help you in this intense time.
